How to collect and send us your pet's hair fibers

PLEASE NOTE: All pet hair fibers must be clean and free of debris and any mats or tangles. If you send dirty, matted, or tangled hair fibers we will have
to discard them.

You can collect your pet's hair fibers in one of two ways:

1. Brush or comb out theundercoat. These fibers are best for spinning but take a long time to collect in this manner. If you do not want your pet shaved, then this is the route to take. Use a slicker brush, comb, or tool such as the Furminator. Collect all of what you brush out and save in a bag or box until you have enough to send. For the average handbag, we find that a shirt box full of unpacked hair fibers will do.

2. Have your pet professionally groomed so that the coat is shampooed (degreasing shampoo is best) and then blown dry. All tangles and mats should be removed during this time. Then the hair can be removed with clippers and collected into a box. The cut hair fibers tend to clump and "felt" together rather easily so it is best NOT to pack it down. Let it air dry before packaging. You can mail it either in a padded envelope or a box (we prefer a box). Be sure that it has ample room to stay fluffy.
